Mainly deployed on

• (a)conducting scientific, analytical and investigatory work; and
• (b)supervising and training staff and other management duties in the Government Laboratory or in other Government departments.

(A Chemist may be subject to cross-divisional postings in Government Laboratory.)

Candidates should have:

• (a)
  • (i)a first or second class honours Bachelor Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry/ Biotechnology (or a related discipline) or Forensic Science from a Hong Kong university or equivalent [see Note (1)]; and a Master Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry/ Biotechnology (or a related discipline), Forensic Science, Food Science, Environmental Science, or an appropriate science subject from a Hong Kong university or equivalent; or
• (a)
  • (ii)a first or second class honours Bachelor Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry/ Biotechnology (or a related discipline), or Forensic Science from a Hong Kong university or equivalent [see Note (1)]; and two years’ relevant post-graduate experience; and
• (b)a pass result in the Aptitude Test in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) [see Note (2)];
• (c)met the language proficiency requirements of ‘Level 1’ results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese and Use of English) in the CRE or equivalent [see Notes
• (3)to (6)]; and
• (d)a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (BLNST) [see Notes
• (7)to (8)].
